The Nürnberg Spielwarenmesse traditionally kicks off the new
year for the toy industry, as toy producers, wholesalers and resellers get
together to discover new trends and products, and plan their
orders for the year.
It is at this annual event
that the newest products and
trends for the upcoming toy season are presented to the toy
industry, long before they land on the shelves of toy stores
and in shopping malls.

International Toy Fair
Nürnberg (30.01.2003-04.02.2003)
PLAYMOBIL® has a permanent show room at the Nürnberg
Messehallen, where toy resellers can talk with their sales
representatives and place their re-stocking
orders.
During the toy fair, however, the show room is the
place where the novelties for the year ahead are officially
unveiled. The show room is then redecorated to match a
particular novelty product or theme - this year's the
decoration theme is "Noah's Arc" - and prototypes of
the novelties are showcased in special displays and
promotional material. PLAYMOBIL® traditionally gives away a
free sample figure to Fair visitors, last year it was a
repackaged Viking Special.
Although many collectors would love to visit the Nürnberg
Messehallen on these days, the toy fair is only open to
professionals: which means that you will only get in with a
valid invitation / entry card provided by one of the
exhibitors. Without such an invitation, you have to be able
to proof that you are active within the toy industry or that
your interest in toys originates from your business
background.

The traditional Toy Fair giveaway was a blister with a little boy and a baby
Panda bear.
