PLAYMOBIL® occasionally offers companies the chance to
buy
customized versions of their products for promotional uses, as give-aways
in specific marketing actions or to highlight special
events.
In tax-free shops on airports or on certain airlines
you could find a special airline crew set with a captain and a
stewardess. Up to this point this set was offered on some 7 different
airlines as sets 3100-3109.
Possibly these sets inspired the development team to create the
PLAYMOBIL® airport theme.
In 1997 the Karstadt restaurant group in Germany offered
free PLAYMOBIL® Gnome figures with their Kids Meals. The 4 different figures
were packaged in a red ribbon type of box and fill up item numbers (4950)-(4953)
In 2000 this promotion was repeated with 4 new gnome sets (4956)-(4959):
In 2001, 4 new Karstadt Gnomes were added once again (4960)-(4963):
The affiliate toy stores of the VEDES buying group hand out a
unique series of PLAYMOBIL® figures to young members of the
VEDES
Birthday Club. The Birthday series apparently acts as a test bed for
future Special releases.
To promote a local football team, PLAYMOBIL® introduced this limited
edition football player figure.
